בתצלומי החוץ האנלוגיים של אביגיל אל דרור מודגשת היעדרותם ונוכחותם החלקית של בני האדם ממקומות ציבוריים. נקודת המוצא לסדרת תצלומים זו מקורה בהתייחסותה לסמיכות החמקמקה בין קירבה לניכור ובין תחושות בדידות לכמיהה לקשר אנושי.

בתצלום אחד נראה גבר ישוב על כסא בחברת כסאות ריקים כשערפו פונה אלינו, ובתצלום אחר ניצבות אופניים מיותמות בצד גינה מרהיבה ופורחת. בתצלומים נוספים מוצגים רחובות וכניסות לבתים החפים מהתרחשויות אנושיות לצד בוגנוויליה ורודה ומרהיבה המצויה תחת רשת מפרדת שאינה מאפשרת את המגע.

אין מדובר כאן בתצלומים העוסקים בניכור בעידן הגלובלי, אלא על מבט אישי יותר ואינטואיטיבי של אביגיל עצמה. מבט הלוכד רגעים אסתטיים במקומות ציבוריים שונים, דוגמת : חוף הים, גינה ציבורית, רחוב פריזאי, מקומות בהם אי הימצאותו של האדם או לחילופין הימצאותו של האדם בסיטואציה מעורפלת, מייצרת ומעוררת אי נוחות ותחושת מסתורין אצל הצופה.

HUMAN TRACES

Abigail El-Dror – Photographer. Born  in Israel 1960.

This series of analogue photographs of exteriors by Abigail El-Dror places the emphasis on the absence or partial presence of human beings in public places. The point of departure for the series lies in the photographer's way of seeing the elusive juxtaposition of closeness and alienation, solitude and yearning for human contact. 

In one photograph we see the back view of a man seated on a chair among other, vacant chairs;
 in another, an abandoned bicycle is seen against the background of a exuberantly blooming garden. Other photographs show deserted streets and entrances to buildings bereft of human activity, while even an attractively flowering pink bougainvillea becomes untouchable behind its protective wire netting.

These photographs do not deal with alienation in the global era but rather with Abigail's own more personal and intuitive way of seeing, a way which enables her to observe and capture aesthetic moments in a variety of public places such as a beach, a public park, a Paris street - places in which the absence of human life or, alternatively, its presence in a vague, unclear situation arouse in the viewer a sense of mystery and unease.
